Greetings Jorge Rivera, immigration attorney.
This news is very important for all our people. We do not want them to be afraid to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
So this is us saying this based on President Joe's statements. Biden. The President said, just last week, that immigrants should not be afraid of having any problems with immigration at the time they go to get vaccinated.
Not only has this happened, but it has been endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security, which is in charge of immigration and deportations.
It is now official, in which ICE will have virtually no operations when people go to get vaccinated.
The Department of Homeland Security reports that it is a moral and public health priority to ensure that all people living in the United States have access to the vaccine. RRemember: the vaccine is not being charged for, it is free and therefore immigrants will have access to the free vaccine as well.
The Homeland Security statement continues, encouraging people, regardless of their immigration status, to receive the vaccine once they are eligible. Vaccines will be given at a distribution center, according to government instructions.
They further clarify that, consistent with ICE's long-term termination policies, they are not conducting detention operations in hospitals, clinics or doctors' offices. ICE is not operating in any urgent medical treatment facilities, unless it is in the most extraordinary circumstances.
So any immigrant, any of our people who are going to go to seek medical help, care with their doctor, treatment, clinic, or vaccination, can rest assured that at that place ICE is probably not going to be there to detain or deport anyone.
Health comes first. Medical treatment comes first for us and for our children. We can receive it peacefully without any concern and without any fear from ICE.
