Remember, that legal entry you're going to get when you come back, with that travel permit, will eliminate the need for a pardon from your spouse. These pardons take two to three years and require you to go to the U.S. Embassy for an interview.

None of that will be necessary, because you will already have legal entry and you will be able to do the residency once and for all, in a single package within the country.
