Biden asks Congress to pass immigration reform

Immigration lawyers Jorge Rivera > Blog > Asesoria Immigration > Biden asks Congress to pass immigration reform

Greetings Jorge Rivera, immigration attorney.

This topic is very interesting, as Biden's speech has caught our attention. In this speech, he was not expected to mention Immigration. However, did, and challenged Congress.

"If you want more border security, pass it. If you want a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, approve it." This was like a challenge, a challenge. It is pushing them to not only talk, but to act and do something with Immigration.

What Joe is willing to do Biden?

He is willing to break immigration reform into little pieces. What does that mean? That he knows his immigration reform plan has no support within the Democrats. They have not passed it in the House of Representatives, controlled by Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic majority.

They approved a bill only for the dreamersothers for the workers of agriculture, but not the immigration reform proposal. This is why Biden is willing to break it into laws,,,, for the dreamers, those of the TPS, and those of agriculture.

What has to happen for you to pass immigration reform?

It is not enough that Biden beg Congressmen to pass immigration reform, or these individual bills that are already in the Senate. There must be changes.

Republican vote

You have to change the republican vote. There are ten Republicans who, without their support, will not pass immigration reform. It is not enough with the vote of 50 Democrats in the Senate. They must find a way to include immigration reform as part of the budget reconciliation.

We all want immigration reform, but let me tell you, they are getting complicated in Congress, because it is not that complicated to legalize millions of people.

Date of Law 245I

Instead of these bills that they have to pass, which have been 30 years and they haven't passed them, the only thing they have to change is one date in the current immigration laws, which is the date of the Law 245I.
That deadline was April 30, 2001, for individuals to pay a $1,000 fine to forgive illegal entry, and to forgive an illegal stay.

If they were to move that April 30, 2001 deadline forward to 2021, they would move it forward 20 years. By moving a single date, they would legalize millions of people. Everyone would get a family member or a company to ask for it. If an employer pays the thousand-dollar fine, you would become. resident.

It is as simple as that, but they are drowning in a glass of water in Congress. We don't want you to do the same, and wait for immigration reform that will likely never come.
